powering house with the truck..?

i know one is able to use the onboard inverter to power a home.
HOWEVER i hear that you have to use specific parts to make it compatible with the truck otherwise it will just fault each and every time you attempt to use it.
does anyone know what i’m talking about?
im not too sure of the terminology i am supposed to be using lol.
